Parents use loans to pay Uni fees

According to a recent study, more than 65% of parents are miscalculating the impact of higher learning fees, when putting their children through University and are suffering financially, as a result.

The research showed that many parents are putting to little into specific saving funds for their children and are having to source additional finance should they decide to pursue a degree. In the most unfortunate cases, some children were forced to leave university and enter into the world of work prematurely.

The organisation responsible for the survey found, unsurprisingly, that children from families that fell into a lower income bracket were worst hit, with apparently 1 in every 26 students dropping out of University as a result of financial constraints.

The survey also discovered that families that fell into a mid range financial bracket, were actively dedicating any spare funds to specific saving accounts as a means to plan for such incidents.

One expert suggested that the financial pressures which are put on parents, in order for them to provide the best start in life for their children were unfair. It is wrong that families should be forced to dip into their reserve funds to pay for their children’s higher education and more should be done to support them.

In addition, It has also been discovered that many parents are using home loans and credit cards as a means to bridge the gap between fees.
