Love loans stretch British pockets

Splurging large amounts of cash on your better half could signal the start of financial difficulties at a later date suggests one of the UK’s largest banking institutions.

Accordingly, UK citizens spend an average of £1’500 per annum on gifts and weekends away to treat their partners and loved ones, using personal loans and credit cards to foot the bill. However, a separate study has revealed that in spite of this generosity, many people within the UK do not feel they are being spoilt enough by their other halves.

Around 6 million people are said to feel dissatisfied by the level of “treating” received from their partners throughout the year, with an additional 1 million people blaming a lack of spoiling on the breakdown of previous relationships.

Commenting on the findings, one expert suggested that increased pressures within relationships are causing some people to over stretch their financial capabilities in order to keep their partners happy. However, as a result, large proportions of people are taking on to greater debt in the form of loans and are becoming unstuck in later lives.

In addition, it is also noted that the older a person or indeed relationship gets, the more expensive it can become.
