Is Next Year Going To Be Better Than 2009 For Loans?

For anyone who has been working in the financial or loan industry, or for those individuals looking for a new loan, whether this was a home owner loan or a personal loan for other purposes, they will be well aware of what a bad year 2009 has been for the industry as a whole.

The credit crunch and banking crisis, followed by one of the worst recessions which many people can remember has have all had a huge impact on the economy, as well as individual’s financial situations. But as we look back at 2009, the question on everybody’s lips is whether or not 2010 is likely to see any improvement?

2009 has taught many of us a valuable lesson, as the excesses of past years of irresponsible lending as well as borrowing has finally caught up with us. Banks and other loan companies have been hit particularly hard this past couple of years and this has led to the much tighter lending criteria and reluctance to offer new loans to individuals during the past twelve months.

However, whilst there is almost certainly a long way to go before we can safely say that the economy has recovered, we are already starting to see signs of improvement and there is generally more optimism for the year ahead.

The housing and home owner loan markets are already seeing an increase in both sales and the number of available loan products with higher loan to values, as lenders slowly start to relax their criteria and many economics experts believe that the UK economy is set to leave recession in early 2010.

Both lenders and borrowers have been affected by the past couple of years and have hopefully learned from the experience, taking a more cautious and responsible approach towards loans in general. There are still those who believe there is going to be a double dip recession, but as long as everybody is sensible, this should be able to be avoided. As to the answer to the question posed in the title of this article, nobody really knows, we can only be optimistic and say we hope so!
