Banks Set Up Taskforce For Business Loans

The main high street banks in the UK have come under a lot of pressure over the course of the past couple of years or so, and in particular within the last week, since the majority of banks have announced huge half year profits, despite the fact that they still seem to be unable to offer loans.

Since the onset of the credit crunch, three years ago, it has become increasingly difficult for those individuals and businesses who need finance, to be able to be accepted for the personal or business loan they require.

Although most of the banks claim that they have funding available and are willing to offer loans to credit worthy customers, most of those looking for a new loan would probably disagree and the government is placing even more pressure on banks to offer loans, in an attempt to help restore the UK economy.

The main concern from the government, is that small and medium sized businesses are unable to get the business loans they need to fund their development plans and this lack of finance is having a negative impact on the potential for economic recovery.

As a result of this, the six biggest banks in the UK are joining forces and setting up a task force, whose aim is to come up with a plan as to how the process can be made simpler for businesses to be accepted for the loans they need and to try and get rid of the problems faced by many businesses currently attempting to secure a loan.

The taskforce is scheduled to meet with the Chancellor of the Exchequer to discuss their findings in October this year and it should be interesting to see what they come up with! In the meantime, those businesses looking for a new loan will just have to struggle on as best they can and hope that some positive decisions are made.
