Are you making the most of your credit card

Consumers in the UK are not taking full advantage of “perks” and “reward schemes” available through their credit cards.

According to new research over 50% of credit card holders are not aware of reward schemes available on their cards or are just not interested in using them. Benefits such as cash back and reward points are valuable features of cards, which are worth being aware of and ultimately using.

As a split between the sexes, women tend to favour retail based reward schemes and are more likely to make the most of the features. Retail cards offer incentives such as “money off” certain purchases and store points which can be used on future purchases. Men in the UK are more likely to choose a card that offers cash back features.

Consumers need to be vigilant when choosing card schemes, in particular those people who consistently repay the balance of their card who could be missing out.
As with any financial product, you should choose a card based on the benefits it offers faired against competing cards.
