Homeowners Still Looking To Move
There has been an incredible amount of negativity surrounding the housing market over the past six to twelve months, what with the credit crunch making it more difficult for individuals to obtain a home loan or mortgage, the cost of loans increasing dramatically and talk of house prices falling more than they already have done, it’s amazing that anybody would want to move house at all, let alone feel positive about doing so!
But, according to the latest research from the Alliance and Leicester, around three and a quarter million people in the UK are planning to move house within the next twelve months.
Of those home owners who have sold their property in the recent past, more than a third of them claimed that they had made improvements to their home prior to placing it on the market, in order to increase the appeal and saleability of the property. On average the cost of these improvements has been around the £3000 mark, a small price to pay to help you make the move you want.
In addition to those looking to move home, almost one in five home owners who intend to remain in their current property say that they intend to make some improvements over the next twelve months, either by using their savings, or by applying for a home improvement loan to help them to fund the work.
It is good to see some positive attitude and activity returning to the housing market once more and clearly DIY projects and home improvements generally, seem to be extremely important to home owners, whether this is to increase the saleability of the property, or just to make it a more pleasant place to live.
It is apparent though, that with so many properties currently on the market, it is worth spending a bit of cash on improving your own home prior to selling it, so that it stands out from all the others.
